Match Review FA SF2 | Selangor FC 4-1 Terengganu FC (Agg. 6-4) | The Red Giants Booked A Spot In The Finals

The Red Giants squad booked a ticket to the 2024 FA Cup Final after defeating Terengganu FC 6-4 on aggregate with a 4-1 result in the second Semi-Final match yesterday at the MBPJ Stadium.

Despite coming home with less one goal at Gong Badak last week, the Red Giants squad managed to achieve the dream of many to advance to the 2024 FA Cup Final at home land, the MBPJ Stadium with Safuwan Baharudin's hat-trick goals in the 3rd, 5th and 54th minutes which placed Selangor FC ahead. Then, Reziq Banihani made a huge gap with his goal in the 90+3 minute before the referee blew the final whistle to confirm the Red Yellow victory.

According to Nidzam Jamil, Head Coach of Selangor FC, this victory is for those who were at the MBPJ Stadium yesterday.

"As the local head coach, I try to do the best for everyone's favourite team. Armed with my knowledge and background, of course I want to take this team to the finals. Alhamdullilah, as a Selangor supporter since childhood, also a former player of this club, the success of bringing this team to the final with the help of the coach and other officials definitely brought joy. Before the players went out to play, the team had promised to give the victory to the families and supporters. In addition, I am sure the stadium atmosphere brought by the fans also helped the team to continue to perform well yesterday," explained Nidzam Jamil, the head coach who managed to book the FA Cup final for Selangor FC after the last time they played five years ago.

From the #SFCTER match in the 2024 FA Cup Semi-Final match yesterday, some important things can be seen, such as:-

One name, three achievements in one game

Safuwan Baharudin, not only guided the team as captain and prevented dangerous attacks from Terengganu FC with the defensive line excellently, but also scored his first hat-trick for the Red Giants squad and also his career for the 2024/25 season as well as being crowned as Man of The Match #SFCTER yesterday. For information, Safuwan is also the first centerback to score a hat-trick in Selangor history.

Nidzam Jamil praised the advantage of having a player who is like an assistant coach on the field for him, "I am not surprised by Safuwan's hat-trick, he does have this advantage. But his volley is something to talk about. As a defender to score goals like that, it's very exciting."

Yohandry Orozco's hat-trick assists

Selangor FC's import player, Orozco is always involved in the attacking side with goals and also assists for his team mates. Despite not scoring a goal in yesterday's #SFCTER match, he managed to make three assists; his two corner kicks directly towards Safuwan Baharudin in the 3rd and 5th minutes of the game and his pass to Reziq Banihani in the 90th+3rd minute become a clear result for Red Giants to advance to the FA Cup final. The accuracy of his passing is one of the factors he assisted for 17 goals (12 last season and five this season) with the Red Giants.

All players contributed!

Acting like a big family that wants the best achievement to make their family name appear great, the first eleven players and the substitute players gave their best to maintain the same rhythm of the game from the beginning to the end of the match until four goals were successfully scored. In addition, the defence line and the goalkeeper has stopped a lot of tries by the attack line of Terengganu FC despite conceding a goal.

We would like to say a thousand thanks to the 10,569 supporters who fueled the atmosphere of the match and gave the players extra motivation to win and advance to the 2024 FA Cup final. You are irreplaceable!

Selangor FC will face either the Kedah Darul Aman or Johor Darul Ta'zim squads on August 24th. Any further information will be on the Selangor FC social media platform.

Selangor FC is proud of the team's journey in the FA Cup competition from 'Round 16' to the Semi-Finals yesterday. Last push in the final Red Giants!

Demi Kebanggaan!
